{"id":531,"date":"2022-10-13T12:43:19","date_gmt":"2022-10-13T12:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utethon.com\/?p=531"},"modified":"2023-07-14T16:40:02","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T16:40:02","slug":"tasmania-on-my-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utethon.com\/en\/tasmania-on-my-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"Tasmania: on my mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2017 I traveled to Australia to meet the artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roslynoxley9.com.au\/artist\/fiona-hall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fiona Hall<\/a>. 2 years earlier she had charmed visitors of documenta with her hunting lodge in the Aue Park displaying strange creatures made from recycled uniforms. And at the Venice Biennale she inaugurated Australia\u2019s new pavillon with a spectacular show about time and extinction. She had recently moved to Tasmania, so I flew over there to visit her studio and explore the island. Later I joined her on a trip to the outbacks near Ularu, where she was working with aborigine women on a grass weaving project. I was honored to observe and become a (minor) part in the weaving team, getting advise from the women and cooking tea for them. It was one of the most facinating and memorable asignments I ever had.
